What is F2 glue?

F2 glue is strong liquid glue that is used in a variety of applications including joining together two or more materials, like plastic, wood, foam board and leather. It is therefore very good for DIY projects and other crafting projects. For instance, you can use it at home to repair your shoes and replace the handle on a broken cup as well as join pieces of a broken toy together or around the office to repair a broken furniture leg or broken drawer handle and in other small repair jobs.

F2 glue usually comes packed in a 2-sided plastic bottle with an elongated conical opening and a similar cap. An F2 plastic bottle is usually white with a transparent or translucent opacity allowing you to see the level of glue in the bottle. Sometimes the brand name, chemical constituents and usage instructions as well as net weight are printed on a label stuck on one side of the 2-sided plastic bottle. The brand name doesn’t necessarily have to say F2 glue as Chinese manufacturers have different names for it e.g 502 glue. Usually, you get an additional plastic dropper with each bottle to assist when applying the glue in tight spaces and manage application in small and tiny drops.

Uses of F2 Glue

Many technicians in technical industries like construction, automotive and manufacturing use it for repairs and projects requiring joining two or more materials. For example, sign makers in Nairobi use it to join together laser cut acrylic pieces when making illuminated 3D signs and other non-illuminated alucobond signs.  Jewellery makers use it to join small pieces of metal, glass & plastic components together when making jewellery. Electricians use it to repair small electronic components and to stick cables and wires in place inside electronics. Safety precautions when using F2 glue

While F2 glue is relatively easy to use, you should be careful not to spill any on your fingers, hands or clothes when using it. F2 adhesive glue is made of toxic chemicals and is dangerous when it comes in contact with skin, eyes and even clothes. There is a huge risk of it joining your fingers together or even your fingers to the materials you are working with. Also F2 glue spilled on your clothes will stain your clothes permanently and will not come out even when washed with strong detergents. Wash your eyes with clean running water and seek immediate medical attention when F2 gets in your eyes.

It is advisable to wear protective clothing like gloves and eye protection in order to protect your hands and eyes from injury when working with F2. Wearing work overalls will protect your clothes from coming into contact with the glue. Avoid spilling glue on any furniture, chair, computer or any other item as F2 glue sticks on it, corrodes it and does not clean easily. Mop up any spilled glue using a paper tissue or wet towel immediately the spillage happens. Avoid using water as it will just harden the glue and the bond. Use nail polish remover or acetone to dissolve the glue and make it easy to clean.

Storing F2 glue

F2 glue also dries up when kept open and you should therefore make sure to always keep the cap on the bottle on so it can be usable next time. Store opened F2 glue in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight so it can last long without drying. You can store unopened F2 glue this way for about 8 months without it expiring. Remember to keep F2 out of the reach of children & pets.
