Most double sided tapes come in a roll with varying width and length. The tape also comes in various colours for the tape itself and the liner. The liner covers the tape on one side preventing the tape from sticking permanently onto itself while in the roll.

How to use double sided tape

To correctly use double sided tape, ensure that your item and the wall are free of dust as dust is always an enemy to strong adhesion. Cut a small piece of tape from the roll and stick the exposed side of it on the back of your item. Do not remove the liner yet until you are ready to stick on the wall. Repeat for all four corners of your item assuming you are using it on a mirror or picture frame. You can add more double-sided tape as required especially if the item you are mounting is heavy.

You can use a tape measure and pencil to mark out the area you need to mount your item. Once you are ready to mount, remove the liner from the double tape you had stuck on the back of your item and stick your item to the cleaned wall surface. You can twist a bit to make sure that the item is level and in the correct position. Once your item is in position, press on the item firmly to make sure it sticks strongly on the wall.

Things to note when using the adhesive tape: Double tape sticks better on some surfaces than others. Smooth surfaces work better with double tape than rough surfaces. Also, heavy items are not suitable for mounting with it.
